haha... searching for the Thanks items is now a little like "Where is Waldo"... oh well, all the prices are good, so you can't really lose.

Unknown said...

All of you are going to hate me, I keep grabbing the thank you items... Oh well, I'm a poor college student, I need things on the cheap.

Bruce said...

What did you get on the cheap this time, Brant?

GutOne said...

wow, so is this the end then? Three pages of games, crazy.

Unknown said...

King's Food for $3.99
Mu & More for $4.99
Hoity Toity for $7.99
Carcasonne for $14.99
California for $8.99
Ingenious for $24.99

Not a bad haul :-D

Bruce said...

Very nice, Brant!

Unknown said...

Yeah, auto refresh helps a lot. ;)

GutOne said...

but you missed Puerto Rico for 20.99...cause I snagged it :-)

GameoftheDay said...

Yes, Brant has obviously found a way to detect the thank you items.

The rest of the gang thanks you and salutes you Brant... I won't mention which finger they are using to salute you...

GameoftheDay said...

Brant also missed Gipf for $13.99. You're slipping, dude.

Unknown said...

I'm pretty much out of money. Anymore and I'm in danger of dipping into my rent money.

If you would have put up Battlelore at some point I would have been out of money before the thank you items hit. :P

GameoftheDay said...

I guess it's good that I didn't. Tanga had Battlelore this time for 39.99, but didn't last long and with their shipping it wasn't a super hot deal.

Brant, I'm sure everyone else is happy you are now offering the opportunity to others to actually get in on the action.

GameoftheDay said...

This is going to wind down at 11:00 PM Eastern, 8:00 PM Western. Items currently posted could come down at any time, so don't sit on the fence too long...

It's been a blast and I hope you've enjoyed it too!

Unknown said...

These are way too much fun, and I will definitely be here for the next one.

I won't post what I got, because some of them are presents for other people who might be lurking around here.... but I should be receiving over ten games, which kind of makes my head spin. And I could have bought more... but... must leave SOMETHING for next gameathon.

Eric/GotD, you rock. You are my new hero, and you make my credit card company very happy.

GameoftheDay said...

Erin, Thank you. That is great to hear. I'm sorry I couldn't put Blue Moon up for you. Maybe next time.

UncleDredd said...

BIG ditto on the thanks... it was my first time purchasing from you, and I went big (for my pocketbook, anyway) and ordered 12 games! I'll definitely be back.

etothepi said...

Looks like it's over.

Thanks for creating the opportunity for me to spend so much money! It's been a fun two days, although it's a shame I missed out on Arkadia.

breity said...

Just got back!

Drat! Drat! Drat! Missed the end!

Isn't your normal game of the day coming up? Or are you just going to giggle nervously and wait until tomorrow night. ;-)

etothepi said...

breity,

Most of the games at the end were repeaters, some at a bit cheaper price than the other.

But you didn't miss out on anything big, like a $30 Battlelore!

breity said...

You're just saying that because you don't want anyone to know you were the one who snagged it. ;-)

(just kidding!)

Thanks for letting me know! That's a relief. :-)

I just read through the blog and I can't believe how many games I missed! As an aside, Eric, please put up Cave Troll soon..my good friend Kevin eyes up my copy every game night. Consider it a reward to him for turning me on to your site (which has produced a direct inverse relationship between my bank acct and yours)!

Unknown said...

So will there be another one of these during next week's Tangathon too? Good thing this is a three paycheck month for me. :)

GameoftheDay said...

We will have another Game-A-Thon when Tanga has their next Trashathon, I mean Tangathon. No offense to Tanga, I keep my eyes open for the hidden pearls there too. But the long long wait when scrapbooks and toolkits go up for several hours does provide a nice opportunity to cruise back to home base here at Game of the Day!

We continue to work on broadening our base of offerings. If we haven't offered something, it's because our procurement team has failed to live up to expectations. I will pummel myself later for it... in the meanwhile, feel free to keep the requests coming and I'll scurry around trying to make it happen...

GutOne said...

Thanks for the game-a-thon. Now about adding that letter to my shipment. I really really wasn't kidding about wife killing me. :-)

etothepi said...

I'm dying to find out if I made the top 5, and what those prizes will be! Any idea when we'll know?

Unknown said...

Any updates?

As far as a wishlist for future Game-a-thon's:

- Khet (and expansion)
- the other games in the Mask trilogy: Java and Mexica
- the expansion for Chicken Cha Cha Cha: Duckling Dancin'
- Runebound expansions: the big ones and maybe bundles of the small card expansions

GameoftheDay said...

All;

I apologize I don't have the final tallies ready yet... I'm crawling my way through the orders while taking care of my 3- and 5- year olds and supporting my wife as she's participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Thanks for the wonderful response, I hope to have all the orders tallied by tonight!

Unknown said...

oh ok...so the first game-a-thon i make the suggestion that first place should get a prize and I come in third. My wife kicks my butt for buying 9 games in the first round but understands since I'm taking the medical boards in two weeks and I quote "you're so stressed out, its ok, but dont do it again." I therefore sit out of the Re-game-athon and now you give top 5 prizes! sheesh....no luck for the med school man. love you guys anyway...hope you others didnt miss me too much...ill be at the next game-a-thon promise.

E L said...

Justin,
Damn, I thought you would be first last time. I've been dying to know what was in your mystery package because I ordered one this time. :D
(I was just curious all-around actually... but the thought of three whole games given to me as surprises? By another actual geek? The temptatoin was too much this time.)

Congrats on med school. You've made it this far--you'll do fine. :)

Unknown said...

hey erin...
the mystery package was exciting..i think when you buy it you kind of need to be of the mindset of gift giving and if you get something you really like you keep it, since if you really wanted something they offered you would have bought it already. I think with all my talk about Blue moon city they gave me that one...was very very excited about that since i didnt have the guys to pull the trigger on it myself...the also gave my California, which looks cute but not my style so I'm going to give that to a lighter gamer/newbie friend or family member. those 2 i was happy about. lastly i got the The Motley Fool trading game which i was rather disappointed with. but I guess that comes with the territory...i think they were limited on options since i had already bought so many things but I probably would not do it again...of course in the heat of the moment anything is possible... i wish you luck with your mystery package...how did other mystery purchasers do?

breity said...

Justin, weren't you also one of the fine folks rather rabid about landing Ticket to Ride? If GOTD had given you that plus Blue Moon, plus... I dunno, a pack of cards for all you might have cared by then -- you would have had the best, most-tailored mystery package ever. ;-)

Erin, I don't mean to pry, but I've been morbidly curious -- staring at these Blog pages on-end over the last week will do this to you -- but are you the person with the "Erin Go Bragh" geekbadge on BGG.com? Just wondering. :-)

Unknown said...

point taken breity...like i said i would probably do it again in the heat of the moment....love the suspense

GameoftheDay said...

Sorry Justin, we had just run out of Lucky Loop and Rocketville when your mystery turn came it. So we had to stick Blue Moon City in instead...

I'm not crazy about the theme for California either but it's a good game once you get past that. I guess the theme could draw in some non-gamers so it might make a nice gift.

I always hit the mystery packs at Tanga even though the contents are... well... let's just say you didn't get Texas-themed Uno or "Can't Check Me" and leave it at that! It's like being a kid at Christmas again. Remember, you're supposed to act EXCITED when you open the pair of socks from your grandma!

breity said...

True story:

I live in Houston, TX, and my brother-in-law comes out here from Sacramento, CA, a few times a year to audit some of the petroleum companies (he works for the state). Anyway, he always finds Texas quite strange (I can't say I blame him), so I always make sure I give him something Texas-ish every year for Christmas. Well, this time, my Tanga mystery game box showed up days before, with Texas Uno (now with "Hook 'Em!" card!), so... guess what my brother-in-law got from yours truly as a Christmas gift?

Needless to say, he loved it. :-)

We got him something else (= something "real") on top of the game, but the Texas Uno was one of his Christmas highlights.

True story.

breity said...

I should have added: "It was a Christmas miracle. Bless you Tanga, from every one of us."

Unknown said...

hey i love GOTD...and i hope that the gift portions of my mystery package are well received...i must say that i love the games i got especially the two at thank you prices...i wish there was a game-athon once a week.

E L said...

Yes, yes *curtseys* er wait I'm a geek, *bows*... I am in fact THE Erin from BGG with Erin Go Bragh (Ireland forever) under my name.

I actually have an uuuuuuuuubergeekbadge, oooh. I just haven't figured out how to get it to say something neater in two lines of readable text yet.... I get enough jokes about that phrase revolving around women's undergarments that I need to get rid of it eventually....

GameoftheDay said...

Finally, at long last...the highly anticipated announcement of the Game-A-Thon winners...

We had a TIE for 4th/5th place... Down to the penny! Congratulations to Kevin Rutherford and Matt Fullenwider.

Solidly in 3rd place was Eric Flood.

Further ahead of the pack was our second place finisher, William Johnston.

In first place, by a comfortable margin, was Joshua Buergel. Joshua purchased Zopp, but before you think that put him over the top... he would have won even without it! Joshua will receive his choice between Die Macher, Torres, or Manila.

All of the top 5 finishers will receive some lovely parting gifts. In the spirit of "mysteries" I'll not reveal them here.

Thanks again everyone, we had a great time and hope you did too!

Unknown said...

Woah. That is impressive.

I think that after the amount of games I bought in this last gameathon I won't be anywhere near able to compete for free stuff so good thing I am a sucker for mystery packages.... hee....

GameoftheDay said...

For what it's worth, Erin, you and Nate were 7th and 6th and not too far back of Matt/Kevin.

I've enjoyed your postings, I'm glad we've had more participation in the blog!

Unknown said...

Wow. Amazing first place. Can't wait to see what my "mystery" will be!

breity said...

How did the dollars spent from this top five compare to the dollars spent from the top five last weekend? That is, where would last week's top five fit into this week's top five?

Bookseller Bill said...

I guess second place isn't too bad. I would be annoyed if I missed out on first because I hadn't bought the Power Grid combo (I dithered over that for a while).

etothepi said...

I would be too, Bill, because the Power Grid deal was a very worthy purchase. I already have it, else I would've bought it.

GameoftheDay said...

No one, including the winner from last week, would have finished in the top 5.

GameoftheDay said...

There is a slight correction to previously posted results; Kevin actually won 4th place and Matt was 5th, as I failed to include one of Kevin's items in the calculation.

Unknown said...

Doh! I just got downgraded. Oh well, I'll still be quite happy with the big box of 11 games coming my way. The only downside is at this rate, there isn't much left showing up that I don't already have.

GameoftheDay said...

hey Matt, don't count on that. Most of what will be going up has not been offered before.

Joshua Buergel said...

I had an advantage this game-a-thon, because I missed last week's one. I had a long list of things I've been meaning to pick up, and things on the list kept coming up. That, plus Friday being payday, and the fact that I've been in the middle of a brutal crunch at work (and therefore wanted to entertain myself by buying games) meant that I went probably a bit overboard. Oh well, huge box of games coming, I have to like that.

Tadow said...

Wow, didn't even know there was a contest. If not for a wedding and gencon coming up, I'd have probably bought that soccer game.

GameoftheDay said...

And if you had, Nate, you would have been in second... instead of on the outside looking in...
