What Happened to the Game-a-Thon?

Many of you are wondering what happened to the Game-A-Thon.

I closed the Game-A-Thon due to lack of interest. After a full day of posting deals, there had been no orders. Perhaps it was timing and folks weren't ready for a Game-A-Thon, or didn't find out it was running until too late. Whatever the reason, there was not enough interest to justify continuing to run it.

I'll continue to post daily deals at gameotheday.com and at greatestoftimes.com. I will re-evaluate running another Game-A-Thon if there is enough interest in it.

I was keeping an eye on it, just didn't see anything I wanted yet. Guess nobody else did, either :(

I will admit that I think having multiple sites is confusing to people. GameOfTheDay.com, th Google shopping site, the "Game-a-thon" link at Game of the Day simply having a link to greatestoftimes.com (not to the Google checkout site like one might expect)... it's all very confusing for a new customer.

On top of that, the Google checkout site was really messed up. When you hit page to go to the next page you'd get all sorts of crazy listings like jewelry and stuff; I think some were seeing that when they tried to sort as well.

Those types of issues and confusion won't lead to much confidence in new customers. In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if someone came to the site, checked it out, got confused and was concerned that the site might not be legit, etc.

I've ordered in the past, though, and will gladly order again if I see something that I want. It may also be worth mentioning on the Game of the Day site that orders over $25 qualify for free shipping. That makes the prices look much more tempting.

Thanks for the inputs... I can't always tell how it's showing up for other people, I wasn't seeing those issues.

I was out of town with no computer access most of the day on Saturday. When I got home and checked the site, I noticed that only one item at a time was being offered. I checked back periodically in hopes that the game-a-thon would morph to become more like the ones from the past, but then it all came to an end.

Yep. This site is too confusing to figure out what is what. When you do find games, they appear to be sold out or at a higher price. Not very user friendly.

I didn't hear about it until the very end, and when I did, I too ran into the same problems that other people reported. Hitting the next button brought up a bunch of junk that had nothing to do with games, so all I could see were 5 offers, of which I already owned 4, and the 5th I wasn't interested in. Sucks that it didn't work right. I was hoping to get some deals.

I also ran into the issue where, if you resorted things, you saw EVERYTHING that anyone had posted at Google Base, rather than just your games.

I didn't notice any errors with listings, but I think doing one game at a time is a pretty logical explanation for the lack of orders.

I also saw the problem with the re-sorting, which had never happened to me before...

I also had a game day all day on Saturday, so while I was watching Friday night (nothing had caught my eye though), I was gone all day Saturday...

Unfortunately I was out of town most of last week, so I missed the whole thing. I'll continue to check the site every day looking for some great deals, Game-a-Thon or no Game-a-Thon.

A week with no new games? Sad. How about some El Grande Deciennal edition? Celtica? Reef Encounter?
Anything at all. LOL

it hasn't been a week... maybe it just feels like it...

Is game of the day becoming game of the week? 6 days now. LOL

Am I the only one that doesn't get this site? I assumed it was a daily discount site for games. But 1) the games don't change daily and 2) when you click on the link the game is listed at full price.

I like the fact that this site tries to offer a variety but it just seems to fail on so many levels. I fins the times I check up on it are less and less frequent. Tanga (for all its flaws) and Pozy know how to do this right.

I think that the reason the games are listed at full price is because the discount price expires after a set period of time, but I do agree with you about the site in general.

When the site first started last year, there were good deals to be had every day, but sometime late last year, the games began changing less and less frequently.

I'm not sure what happened, but based on the response received for the last game-a-thon, I don't think that you're the only one who has pretty much stopped checking this site by now.
